Anonymous: You can beg to differ all you want to, but just because SOME were "brainwashed" does not mean ALL of them were.
I did not mean to offend anyone with my statements. I was just trying to point out that the slave masters of that time used the bible as a tool, a tool not only to control their slaves but to justify their cause e.g That the negro was 1/5th a man, that a slave was someone’s property and that the owner could do what he pleases with his property and not regard his actions as sin (rape, injure, maim, murder etc). That the negro is from a cursed tribe from Egypt, and so on.
Our forefathers had culture before slavery, they had religion before slavery, they had language before slavery. Divide and Conquer, Infiltrate and Erase was the slave masters game. I am not saying that Bible or Christianity held down the black community or that this “God is bad” but the manner in which it was teached and the hypocrisy that came with it is what set our generation behind.
